First of the class built, Class 85 No. 85001 is seen stored due to a fire nearly two years earlier on 13th October 1985 while in charge of the 16:15 Euston-Manchester service and is seen at Crewe works open day on 4th July 1987. The loco survived for another two years before being Scrapped in 1989 at MC Metals in Glasgow.
