GWR 2-8-0 No. 3845 rusts in Woodhams Scrap Yard Barry, South Wales on Sunday 25th August 1968. Built at Swindon Works in 1942 and withdrawn from Banbury MPD during June 1964 No. 3845 arrived in the yard in September 1964. It was the penultimate loco to leave the yard a quarter of a century later during 1989. No. 3845 can now be found unrestored at Toddington on the Gloucestershire - Warwickshire Railway. Out of service for almost 50 years now, it is rather more derelict than my photo from 1968 depicts unfortunately.
