During the miners strike of 1984 the Class 56s that normally worked the associated MGR services were allocated to other duties, including the Lackenby BSC - Corby BSC Tubeliner trains. On 16th July 1984 Nos. 56097 and 56011 were used on one of these trains and are seen stopping at Corby North to surrender the branch token while working the Corby BSC - Lackenby BSC empties.
