To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the final BR steam-hauled working on 11th August 1968, the East Lancs Railway held an 'End of Steam' event over the weekend of 27th/28th July. On the Saturday evening, a re-creation of the train, the '15 Guinea Special', 1T57, using an accurate consist, including two of the original coaches, and a number of the locomotives used. Here, BR Britannia class 7MT Pacific No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell', which worked the Manchester Victoria to Carlisle leg in 1968, departs from Heywood with the outbound leg to Rawtenstall.
