Staying at Platform Cottage at Kirkby Stephen station provides an unusual viewpoint through one of the rooflights of Northern Rail Class 158 No. 158793 arriving on the 17.40 Leeds-Carlisle on 5th May 2013. It also has the advantage of being able to see the Up Starting and Down Home signals which give considerable warning of approaching trains when cleared!
