Class 508 EMU No. 508018 heads towards New Malden on 21st April 1984 with the 09:46 Waterloo - Hampton Court service. Introduced to Waterloo suburban services as four car sets, three vehicles of each unit were soon transferred to Merseyside and the fourth vehicle inserted into Class 455 EMUs that took over the lines radiating out of the South West London terminal.
