BR Inter City-liveried Class 47/4 No. 47406 'Rail Riders' is seen heading north along the down main line at Wigston South Junction, Leicester on Saturday 20 September 1986 with seven Travelling Post Office vehicles in tow as special working 1L11, 13:58 Wellingborough to Leicester. This working was one of four runs along this stretch of the Midland Main Line on that day for that train. The smartly turned-out formation was operated in conjunction with the filming of Night Mail 2, a 1986 version of the classic film Night Mail, which had been released 50 years earlier in 1936. This photograph was taken as the train headed north towards Leicester where it reversed and then returned south later in the afternoon to Cricklewood.
