Class 50 No. 50007 "Sir Edward Elgar" was exhibited at the Doncaster Works Open Day on 10th July 1994. No. 50007 became a celebrity locomotive after it was repainted in 1984 into lined green livery with cast number plates at part of the 150 years celebration of the GWR. In 2012 No. 50007 has been preserved at the Midland Railway - Butterley and awaits repair.
