Class J72 0-6-0 tank locomotive No. 69023 'Joem' is pictured at the Derwent Valley Light Railway's Layerthorpe Station, located on the outskirts of York, on Saturday 27th August 1977. On the right, a former BR Class 04 Drewry-design diesel mechanical shunter is parked on an adjacent siding. The Derwent Valley Light Railway, a line of approximately 4 miles in length operated at the time to Dunnington, Yorkshire but ceased operations in September 1981.
