Liverpool Overhead Railway ran from Seaforth in the west to Dingle in the east largely on an elevated cast iron viaduct and was finally completed in 1896. It closed due to serious corrosion of the structures in 1956. Happily one of the original motor coaches is now on display at the new Museum of Liverpool at Pier Head together with a section of the cast iron viaduct, on 8th November 2012.
