Do-it-yourself: East Midlands Trains Class 158 No. 158770 races towards the Middle Road user-operated level crossing, just west of March in Cambridgeshire, with the 07:42 departure from Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich on Monday 3rd September 2012. This is one of several user-operated gated level crossings still to be found on public roads in the more rural parts of Cambridgeshire. Serving only a few isolated farms on West Fen and White Moor, Middle Road sees little traffic, an alternative route served by an automatic half-barrier crossing about half a mile to the east providing an altogether much quicker and safer option.
