A trial run involving the Monday to Friday oil flow from Robeston Refinery in Milford Haven to Westerleigh occurred on 20th July 2012 due to forthcoming viaduct strenghtening work on the Swansea avoiding line (also known as Swansea District line) in the Ynysforgan area. All freight booked over the line is to be diverted via the normally passenger only Swansea line. Due to the steep climb up Cockett Bank this working will necessitate a banking locomotive to help it reach the summit. Here we see Class 60 No. 60063 trail at the rear in preparation to act as banker on the 6B13 Robeston to Westerleigh service at Yspitty on the approach to Loughor during the trial. Class 60 No. 60040 was at the head of the working. In the background we can see the large amount of work that is being undertaken to Loughor Bridge in readiness for the forthcoming replacement of the elderly bridge.
