Fire damaged Class 85 No. 85022 withdrawn at Crewe Electric on 30th January 1993. The 85 caught fire on Beattock Summit on 9th December 1988 while hauling a northbound freight. It was hauled to Carlisle New Yard for store, where it remained until 27th October 1989, when it was dragged to Crewe Basford Hall Yard and then to Crewe ETD for long term storage. It was removed by road to MC Metal Processing Springburn Works in Glasgow, arriving on 28th April 1993, and it received its final fate on 4th May 1993.
