GWR 4900 Class 4-6-0 No. 4979 ‘Wootton Hall’ stands at Appleby Station on 21st May 2011. Built at Swindon in 1930 the locomotive is one of 11 that survive out of the 259 built. However, in poor condition, Furness Railway Trust are applying preventative maintenance until such time as restoration work can be strated.
