Quite an incredible sight as Freightliner Class 66/6 No. 66610 speeds down the incline from the Welney Washes, departs from a sand storm in its wake, on 26th April 2011. This new twice-weekly service (6Z88 Middleton Towers to Ellesmere Port) hauls sand in open MJA box wagons, from Sibelco of King’s Lynn to the newly re-opened railhead on the Manchester Ship Canal, destined for Quinn Glass of Elton, in Cheshire.
