The city of Stoke-on-Trent can't claim to have too many architectural gems, but the ex North Staffordshire Railways station is one of the rare exceptions. The first floor glazed area used to be the NSR Board Room. The area is known as Winton Square and with the North Staffs Hotel opposite the station with a statue of Josiah Wedgwood in front of it is a pleasing introduction for rail travellers to what otherwise does little to lift the spirits.
