Andrew Barclay 0-4-0DM No. 28 ‘Bardon’ stands in the sidings at Rothley, on the Great Central Railway, on 29th January 2011. Built at their Caledonian works in 1956, the locomotive was originally named ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ and spent its first 25 years at Bardon Hill quarries in Leicestershire. Acquired by the GCR in 1981, it has subsequently been utilised for the line Belgrave and Birstall line extensions, and today works out of Rothley.
