The Manchester Metrolink utilises one of huge spans across the Castlefields basin which was part of the mainline exit from the former Manchester Central Station. The old and the new trams meet as No. 1005 heads for Altrincham and 3008 heads for Bury between Cornbrook and Deansgate/Castlefields stops, the latter having been known until recently as G Mex on 6th January 2011.
