'0298' 2-4-0WT No. 30586 inside Nine Elms shed in April 1963. It had been there along with its two classmates for the RCTS/SLS South Western Suburban Rail Tours on 2nd & 16th December 1962. The loco was withdrawn following the second tour and eventually broken up at Eastleigh Works on 28th March 1964. This engine was visually different with its variable sized splashers (or footplate panels). The design of all three locos was from Joseph Beattie and this change was down to William George Beattie his son who had taken over on his father’s death, a curious arrangement that appeared on several of his locos.
