The Tehachapi loop is situated at nearly 4000 feet high. It is subject to major changes of weather at short notice. Here a maintenence of way train climbs the last few yard to the loop tunnel before running downhill towards Tehachapi Depot. The weather had been in the 90s and clear only 10 minutes previously. BNSF GEs, No. 4318,4524 and 5325 provide traction on 19th March 2007.
