Named locomotives in the US are a rarity so it was a pleasant surprise to find CSX CW44AC no. 601 'Spirit of Waycross' parked on the Greenville & Western line at Cheddar, South Carolina. Originally constructed with 6,000hp prime movers and designated AC6000CW, the majority of this class of locomotive have since been rebuilt with more reliable 4,440hp engines.
