After displacement from Fenchurch Street-Shoeburyness & GE outer suburban duties, class 308/1s were refurbished and deployed on the newly electified WYPTE Metro services from Leeds/Bradford to Skipton & Ilkley. Prior to introduction in West Yorkshire, they were used short-term in the West Midlands area and Class 308 No No. 308134 is seen departing Birmingham New Street on 25th February 1995 with a cross-city service.
