Virgin Trains Class 57/3 No. 57307 "Lady Penelope" arrived on East Lanc's metals at 10 am on Wednesday for a day partaking in the railways nine-day diesel gala. Here the locomotive is pictured leaving Ramsbottom for Rawtenstall with a heritage Class 101 DMU about to leave for Bury. No. 57307 ran another two trains later in the day and returned to the main line around 18:00. This is only the second time a 57/3 has appeared on a heritage line, the first being No. 57306 in April 2003 on the NYMR. This is the first Class 57/3 on a heritage line that is equipped with Delner couplings.
