After 18-months planning, the new-look Railway Herald
magazine and website has launched, but what is new?

New Website

The new website for Railway Herald presents a totally new-look to the way that our home on the web works. With a new style and cleaner presentation, the site should make it easier for readers to get the information they want quicker and easier.


In addition, with Railway Herald magazine now being available on subscription, there is better access to the magazine, both for current and back issues. PLUS! We’ve introduced a news section, which allows our editorial team to report on breaking news stories as they happen, while giving a focal point for readers. The use of modern web technology also allows us to bring readers more video content via the website.

The biggest issue for readers has always been having to be at your computer to read the magazine. Well not any longer! The new online system that we are now utilising for distributing Railway Herald, has been specifically chosen to present a high quality end-user experience, which means that it works equally as well on a computer, a laptop, smartphone or tablet PC.

A bigger, better read

Despite all the cosmetic and technological changes, the biggest change is to the magazine itself. We’ve return to the traditional portrait style, but with our new delivery system, your seeing a normal double page spread on the screen, just the same as you would with a printed magazine.


We’ve doubled the core editorial team, which means that the magazine is now providing more informed content and news every week. In addition to which, we’ve got regular written articles on a variety of topics from railway operations to class histories, together with the popular ‘Turning the Clock Back’ series.


The biggest change however, is the introduction of high-quality, and in many cases High Definition, video content that is actually within the pages of the magazine! And its compatiable with your computer as well as your iOS device, such the iPhone or iPad!
