The Llangollen Diesel Group has announced that its 2012 operating season will commence on 31st March with four locos in traffic.

Operating services on the day, subject to availability, will be Class 26 No.D5310, Class 31 No. 5580, Class 37 No.6940 and Class 47 No. D1566. The group says that the timetable will again be an intensive one and will include a DMU diagram. A licensed on-train buffet should be available on one train.

Day rover tickets are available at Adult £18, Senior £15, Child £10 and Family Ticket (2 Adults + 2 Children) £45.

Following disappointing loadings at last September's event, shunter shuttles will not be taking place this year. However, the following day (1st April) will see both ex-ICI EE 350hp shunter Davy and 08195 work a special Preserved Locomotive Enthusiast's Group (PLEG) charter along the whole line from Llangollen to Carrog and back. This is no April fool; the charter has already sold 50 tickets! Tickets are available at £15 and can be purchased by contacting Kev Adlam through the PLEG website at www.pleg.org.uk. This opportunity, to travel for 14 miles behind the two locos, is unlikely to be repeated again for some time.

Elsewhere on the railway, with progress on the Corwen extension it is hoped that topped and tail diesel operation over the extension to Bonwm will occur during the Autumn Diesel Day on 22nd September.
