The ECML was again closed between Newcastle & Berwick-upon-Tweed on 25th September 2021, necessitating LNER Services to be diverted along the Tyne Valley between Newcastle Central and Carlisle. Here, Five-Coach LNER 'AZUMA' Bi-Mode Class 800/2 No. 800207 & Class 801/1 No. 801102 pass under the 1896 Grade II gantry cabin signal box on their approach to Hexham station (which opened in 1835 and is one of the oldest railway stations in the world, built to link the lead mines of the North Pennines to the Tyne Docks at Blaydon), working the 08:30 London King's Cross to Edinburgh Service.
