Astley signal box and level crossing on Chat Moss. The present Astley signal box opened in 1972. British Railways, London Midland Region design replacing the previous signal box which was located on the other side of the crossing, This was the site of the former Astley station on the world's first passenger railway line from Liverpool to Manchester. by Stephenson's Rocket, seen here on 24th July 2021.
