From around the mid 1990s the Southern region has seen a gradual upgrade and introduction in new fleets of DC EMUs, eradicating ageing slam-door stock. Here at Basingstoke on 31st May 2021, constructed Class 701 'Arterio' EMU, No. 701729 works what is though to be a driver training run, being the 11:15 London Waterloo-Staines Up Loop via Eastleigh and Southampton.
