Wantage Tramway Co. No. 5 on display at Didcot Railway Centre on 1st May 2021. Built in 1857 by George England and Co. (more famous for the locomotives they built for the Ffestiniog Railway), it worked initially for the Sandy and Potton Railway. In 1862, it was sold to the London & North Western Railway, becoming a shunter at Crewe works, as well as a trial at the famous Cromford and High Peak Railway. In 1872, it acquired the name "Shannon". The Wantage Tramway bought it in 1878, where it was named "Jane". After that line closed in 1945, it was bought by the Great Western Railway and plinthed at Wantage Road station until that station closed. It is now in preservation at Didcot.
