In Provincial Services livery Class 143 No. 143004 waits for the days services to begin at the head of a line of similar units in Newcastle Central Station on 5th June 1988. Formed of DMSL No. 55670 at the front and DMS No. 55645 to the rear, she had been delivered to BR in September 1985 and was allocated to Heaton TMD, Tyneside. By 1991 she had been fitted with Voith hydraulic transmissions, renumbered as Class 143/6 No. 143604 and re-allocated to Cardiff TMD where she remains today.
