On Saturday May 11th 2019, Ceres Rail's 4-8-2 class 19D No. 3322 "Dominique" passes Sir Lowry's village, starting on the climb up the 1:39 incline to Steenbras, with a weekend excursion en route from Cape Town to Elgin. 3322 is an oil burner and accompanied by a Transnet diesel, instead of a second coal burning class 19 locomotive. This helps avoid lineside fires - the region is tinder dry and fire is a massive hazard (and cost).
