As the heatwave continues, with daily temperatures in the high 20s, Severn Valley Railway is operating a diesel-only service to ensure there is no fire risk from steam locomotives along its 16-mile route from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. Diesel-hauled services will take passengers in historic carriages, stopping at the heritage railway's quintessentially English stations, halts and The Engine House Visitor Centre, until at least Wednesday 18th July. There will also be a small steam locomotive located at Bewdley Station operating footplate rides on weekends (subject to availability).  English Electric BR Class 50 No. 50035 Ark Royal arrives at Highley with a service from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth on 10th July 2018.
