Down in front of the Waggon and Iron Works is one of the Beamish museums working locomotives. Avonside 0-6-0ST (works No. 1764) "Portbury", was built in 1917 for the Inland Waterways and Docks (War Department). She was acquired by Bristol Corporation Docks after the war and numbered S3, and then donated to Bristol Museums where she was restored to running condition in 1988. She is now in her original I W & D grey livery No. 34.
