Visiting GWR 32xx Class 4-4-0 "Dukedog" No. 9017 Earl of Berkley at Ropley on the Mid Hants Railway in 2011. This Class was designed in 1936 using parts from two earlier classes. The intention was to name these locomotives after Earls associated with the GWR. However the launch of these "old fashioned" locomotives at Paddington Station caused much consternation amongst the aristocracy, and the names were instead fitted to new "Castle" Class locomotives. Consequently 9017 never carried its name until preservation.
