The thin wisp of blue smoke above Class 40 No. 40057 accompanied by the whistling noise of her exhaust will be wafting all around Edinburgh Waverley Station as she waits to be released from Platform 17 having recently arrived with a service from the north on 9th May 1983. Withdrawn just 14 months later at Crewe MPD with bogie fractures No. 40057 didn't have far to travel for disposal being scrapped at BR Crewe Works during November 1988.
