The Barclay Caledonia Engine Works, Kilmarnock opened it's doors to the public on 11th September 1988 displaying several Class 141 vehicles undergoing refurbishment. In West Yorkshire green and cream livery the body of Neville Hill based DMS vehicle No. 55510 is seen on the shop floor, DMSL vehicle No. 55536 is seen on jacks in the background. The 739 card on the front of No. 55510 is a Barclays works number, all 40 Class 141 vehicles received one while in the works. In the background narrow gauge diesels are seen under construction. Withdrawn by BR towards the end of the 1990s No. 55510 was purchased by the Weardale Railway as a spares donor for it's operational Class 141 unit.
