A general view of Polkemmet Colliery West Lothian, taken on 11th September 1978, finds Andrew Barclay 1912 built 0-6-0T No. 8 shunting a rake of loaded BR coal wagons. Virtually all of Polkemmets coal production was consumed by the nearby Ravenscraig Steelworks in North Lanarkshire but substantial underground flooding in the early 80's caused the colliery to close in 1986. No. 8 survived the closure and has been resident at the ARPS site at Waterside for many years but has now moved to Teeside for restoration.
