Instead of the more usual GBRf Class 73/9s being used for the Merseyrail inspection test train Network Rail yellow-liveried Classmates No. 73951 "Malcolm Brinded" and No. 73952 "Janis Kong" were used starting from Crewe at 22:59 on 13th September 2017, and are seen returning to Derby RTC the following morning, passing Tutbury & Hatton Station with No. 73952 leading. The Merseyrail Northern line stations visited included Bootle, Ormskirk and Kirby.
