Dumped outside the derelict steam roundhouse in Palma, Majorca on 4th September 1979 are the last 2 De Dion-Bouton railcars No. A-2 and A-3 operated by FC de Mallorca. Built in 1930 these two four wheeled petro-mechanical railcars, together with a third No. A-4, worked the branch lines from Palma to Felanitx / Santany in the south east corner of the island. They carried 40 passengers had a top speed of 55kph, and unusually the radiators were fitted on the roof with large air scoops facing in each direction. Withdrawn upon the closure of the branch lines in 1969, they were retained for some years due to the lightly laid nature of the track, and were the only powered vehicles able to assist in dismantling the lines. No. A-4 had been withdrawn in 1964 and No. A-2 and A-3 were scrapped some time after this image was taken.
