On the then largely steam operated mainline between Kimberley and De Aar an unrecorded SAR Class 25 4-8-4 gets a southbound freight underway from Orange River after the mandatory service stop for water and fire cleaning at Orange River on a June morning in 1985. The issue of steam from both sides of the loco indicates that the boiler is being blowndown to minimise scale formation.
