On 23rd April 2017 four trains, representing the past, present and future of rail travel, ran in parallel along the East Coast Main Line. The four trains were Virgin Trains Class 43 and Class 91, a Hitachi Class 800 and a set of BR Mk1s hauled by LNER A3 Pacific No. 60103 Flying Scotsman. At Shipton, Class 800 No. 800101 heads towards York, while in the background are InterCity225 with DVT No. 82205 leading, HST headed by Class 43 No. 43238 and, hidden by the Class 800, 60103 Flying Scotsman.
