In BR large logo blue livery with a grey roof Class 47/4 No. 47401 'North Eastern' is stabled inside Newcastle Central Station on 19th March 1987. As Brush Type 4 No. D1500, the first Class 47 to be built, she was delivered to Finsbury Park Diesel Depot, North London in September 1962 and would remain allocated to BR Eastern Region Depots all her working life before being withdrawn during July 1992 after a short period in store. Preservation followed at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley where she can still be found today.
