A rather battered and work stained Class 83 No. 83015 is seen in Platform 1 at Euston Station on 10th April 1987 ready to work an empty stock service to Stonebridge Park Carriage Sidings. The 15th and final member of the Class built by English Electric at Newton-le-Willows she entered BR service during June 1962 as No. E3100. The Class 83 fleet was reduced to just 3 examples by August 1983 and restricted to empty coaching stock duties which entailed many trips through the carriage washing machine which explains her stained paintwork. Withdrawn in February 1988 she was stored at Crewe ETD for several years before being sent by road to MC Metals, Glasgow in April 1993 who quickly scrapped her the same month.
