Class 45/1 No. 45134 rumbles out of the shadows and emerges into the late afternoon sunshine at the south end of Newcastle Central Station on 17th March 1987 as it runs around it's train. Time was rapidly running out for No. 45134 and the remaining Class 45/1's as from the start of the 1987 Summer Timetable they were replaced by Class 47/4's or Sprinter DMU's on services to Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. Tinsley TMD allocated Class 45/1 No. 45134 would survive for another 6 months before being withdrawn during September 1987. Disposal details are not complete, MC Metals scrapping No. 45134 at their yard in Glasgow some time between November 1991 and May 1994.
