O2 Class 0-4-4T No. 28 Ashey departs Newport in 1963 with a train from Ryde Pier Head to Cowes. The normal service was supplemented on this day with these one carriage specials running between the weekend timetables trains. No. 28 survived until the end of steam in 1967, when it was withdrawn and scrapped. A dual carriageway now runs through the site of this once important railway junction.
