On the 2nd April 2016, a Network Rail test train ran as from Derby RTC and back to Derby RTC, via Newcastle upon Tyne. It ran north via the Durham Coast and returned south via the ECML. It was hauled by a COLAS Rail Freight Class 37 No. 37421, with Class 37 No. 37025 "Inverness TMD", which has been hired in by COLAS from the Scottish Thirty Seven Group, at the rear. In this view, the train is seen returning to Derby RTC, heading south from Darlington on the ECML.
