On 1st November 2015, the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland operated two steam powered 'Halloween' trains from Dublin Pearse to Greystones in County Wicklow. Former GSR locomotive No. 461 hauled the morning train, and former LMS(NCC) WT 2-6-4T No. 4 was in charge of the afternoon train, the latter of which is seen at Sydney Parade 2.5 miles south of Pearse. Sydney Parade features in one of James Joyce's short stories, 'A Painful Case'. A brass plaque in the station building records its place in literary history. The RPSI Dublin based consist is of refurbished 1960s Cravens coaches.
