Blasting its way towards the disused Minnivey Colliery near Dalmellington, Ayrshire on 25th February 1977 is NCB West Ayr Area 0-6-0T No. 17 hauling a loaded coal train from Pennyvenie Colliery, Dalmellington to Dunaskin Washery, Waterside. Built in 1913 by Andrew Barclay, Kilmarnock No. 17 was withdrawn form use by the NCB as worn out shortly before the Waterside System closed in 1978. Saved from the scrapyard No. 17, works number 1338, is currently at the Llangollen Railway workshops for restoration having previously spent several years at the Tanfield Railway.
