One of the exhibits at the BREL Crewe Works Open Day held on Saturday 21st July 1990 was brand new Mark 4 Driving Van Trailer No. 82220. Built by Metro Cammell at their Washwood Heath factory in Birmingham it is seen positioned on the works traverser painted in Inter City Swallow livery and sitting on accommodation bogies. Still in front line service nearly a quarter of a century later No. 82220 is based at Bounds Green Depot and currently operates for East Coast in their grey and purple livery.
