'Britannia' Class Pacific Pacific No. 70011 'Hotspur' coasts past the elegant Lancaster No. 2 signal box on 27th August 1967 with an Up express freight for Crewe. The scene is full of interest with an engineers trolley in the siding and the remnants of the overhead electrification of the Midland Railway line to Lancaster Green Ayre and Morecambe. That line was closed on 2nd January 1966, from which date Lancaster Castle station became plain 'Lancaster'. No. 70011 was withdrawn in December 1967 and cut up by J.McWilliams of Shettleston during March 1968.
